New build-to-rent apartments in Canary Wharf due for completion in 2020
There is a new kid on the block in the financial district. A beautiful new residential tower is being built. It is due for completion in 2020 and will provide 636 residential homes to the London market. It is however, for renters only. The project is being purpose made for tenants to ease the pressure and support the growing build-to-rent trend in the city.
The fascinating diamond shaped building will surely be a pleasure to live in. It will be the UK’s highest build-to-rent development to date. Inside it’s shining ‘diagrid’ it will contain a mix of apartment sizes which will be priced accordingly.
Renting in luxury
With this much attention to detail in the build we are sure to get some stunning apartments for renters in the Canary Wharf area. With keys hopefully given to the first occupants in July 2020 it will be exciting times in the area.
The block itself will have Wi-Fi and satellite tv as standard and included in the rent. There will be an on-site restaurant, a roof terrace and a gym among other luxury facilities available for residents. The market has changed and tenants are expecting more. This build is certainly going to give a life worth living to those lucky enough to occupy it.
Challenging but worth it
The project has not been an easy one. With major rerouting of services and electricity supplies to the site, Canary Wharf Contractors have had a huge journey in getting the build to the stage it is at already. It runs very close to the jubilee line underground and also comes within a metre of the listed and loved ‘banana dock wall’.
The build has had to be very precise and as Canary Wharf Contractors director Alec Valliantine said ‘There was absolutely no margin for error.’
