  • Apprenticeships provide on-the-job training for young people aged 16+
  • Businesses benefit as well, tapping into new talent and nurturing effective new team members.

The Canary Wharf office is delighted to introduce Henry Wiltshire’s newest team member, Esteban Marmolejo. While the rest of the team were chosen for their solid real estate experience and proven track records in property sales, Esteban is an apprentice property consultant – he comes to Henry Wiltshire with nothing more than good GCSEs and a real flair for the industry.

Kelly Gallagher, Director at our Canary Wharf office says, “We love having an apprentice! Esteban has a great aptitude for estate agency and we’re thrilled to have him on board at the very beginning of his career, where he can learn about the industry through the Henry Wiltshire ethos.”

Apprenticeship was an obvious route for Esteban, too, and with a family background in property development and an interest in estate agency, an apprenticeship with Henry Wiltshire was the ideal placement.

I did my GCSEs in June 2015, and went to sixth form college in the autumn. By March this year, I’d realised college wasn’t for me and I was keen to get into the workplace,” says Esteban. “Now I’ve got more responsibility than most of my friends – I’m enjoying myself and learning a lot more than I would be if I were sitting in a classroom.

It’s the responsibility of those already working in the property sector to train future generations

Apprenticeships are a great solution for everyone. The business gets a trainee who’s ready and willing to learn, as well as shaping a future employee who’ll bring value to the business from the outset. The apprentice gains all the skills (and a lot of life experience!) on the job – often much more conducive to learning than an academic setting might be.

Kelly says, “It’s a great opportunity to give something back to our industry. It’s the responsibility of those already working in the property sector to train future generations, using our knowledge and experience as a foundation for tomorrow’s estate agents. By offering an apprenticeship to Esteban, we’re doing just that.

Henry Wiltshire have been working with John Laing Training to ensure that Esteban gets the most from his apprenticeship. To find out how apprenticeships could benefit your business, contact John Laing Training on 01707 244 544.
