Hayes has been underrated for too long
This west London suburb may have gotten some bad press in the past. It was a factory town which was known to be full of clerks and light manual workers. It’s main exports were biscuits and dried milk. Those days have long since gone. It has been slowly building up it’s reputation and the speed of growth is due to pick up dramatically with the arrival of Crossrail in Hayes later in 2019.
Development in the area
There are many ongoing redevelopment projects in the area. Plenty of demolition and redevelopment alongside some spectacular refurbishments are happening. The former Nestle factory is to be turned into over 1300 homes. It will also have three hectares of public space and over 1km of redeveloped canal frontage to boost local living.
The Old Vinyl Factory is another example of what is happening in the area. Plenty of new cafes, restaurants and retail opportunities are popping up together with schools and public spaces. There may be a lot of cranes on the skyline for the next few years but the future of the area is bright. It is definitely an exciting time to consider buying or living in Hayes.
Major Station Upgrade
The 150 year old station at Hayes and Harlington is being improved and modernised to cope with the arrival of the Elizabeth line later on in the year. This will speed up commutes into the city and make the area accessible to all parts of the city within minutes. Therefore instead of just being a great place to live if you work in Heathrow it has become a great place to live full stop. The Mayor of London has plans to increase the number of trains per hour from the Hayes & Harlington station. This will further encourage interest in the area.
