Forget Me Not Nine Elms – New Developments in SW8 are transforming the landscape

Find out more

With the regeneration of one of the last remaining industrial areas of London underway, our estate agents in SW8 are excited about some of the ongoing and new developments in Nine Elms & Vauxhall. It really is giving us plenty of flowers, and food for thought.

Nine Elms has been undergoing massive changes. It would be hard not to notice the dozens of cranes breaking up the skyline from Battersea to Vauxhall over the last few years. Cranes bringing great new things to this huge expanse of land.  From Vauxhall to Battersea , SW8 has become a great place to work and live, stretching over five times the area of Canary Wharf and with its vibrant creative and commercial district.

The new US Embassy building is a milestone for SW8

The US Embassy opened it’s doors here earlier this year. Over 1,000 staff are employed at the embassy. Similarly, on an average weekday 1000 visitors come through it’s doors. The building itself is definitely a 21st Century work of art. With it’s own unique set of moats and trenches it is very secure. Yet this 12 story glass cube is still a step away from the usual fortress styled embassies of the past.  It is positively a beacon for the future and a welcome feature to the area.

Life’s a bed of roses at Nine Elms with the oldest flower, fruit and veg market getting the ultimate makeover to match it’s surroundings.

Covent Garden Market continues its transformation

The Covent Garden Market has been around since the 1970’s, notably attracting thousands of visitors on a daily basis. It is the oldest flower, fruit and vegetable market in the UK and provides thousands of jobs annually. Currently the market is undergoing a phased revitalization. It is transforming into a New Food Quarter with a five year plan in place.  Along with the market it will house specialist food retailers and office space together with food and flower education.

So Much To Talk About

The area will have a fantastic mix of creativity and commercial. Alongside the food and flower education as mentioned, Penguin Random House has moved it’s head office into the area. The Chelsea Fringe and the London festival of Architecture are hosted here annually. Apple are due to open it’s UK headquarters in the area in 2021. Our heads are literally spinning there is so much happening.
