The Victoria neighbourhood is undergoing a total transformation. What was a cold, imperious boulevard of faceless office is becoming a lively residential area of modern apartments, walkways, specialist foodie outlets and boutique shops. It is currently a giant building site, with the chaos of diverted traffic and  pedestrians making their way through to Victoria station. however the wraps are coming off.

Transforming Victoria

At its core, Nova Food, a new dining quarter, features 18 “concept” restaurants. This  central location is emerging as a smart, shiny new neighbourhood.

Over the next few years a new Victoria will emerge with big improvements to the cramped Underground station and the unveiling of developer Land Securities’ Nova scheme on a five-acre island site. Opposite the station Nova combines flats and offices.

The property scene

The imposing red-brick blocks of mansion flats around Westminster Cathedral have been home to some families for generations.  Now modern, luxurious apartments are being added to the mix in the area.

New Developments in Victoria

Nova is a Land Securities scheme opposite Victoria station. Its bold pink triangular central building is set to become a landmark. There are 170 flats in the mixed-use development, with 30 two- and three-bedroom flats and four penthouses are still for sale. The flats are priced from £1.9 million, while the penthouses range from £11 million to £20 million. The first residents will be moving in any day now

In Victoria Street, 55VS is a development of 57 one- to four-bedroom loft-style flats and penthouses. These developments have a striking burnt black brick exterior and an eighth-floor communal garden. Eighteen flats are available to rent.

Renting

Victoria’s new flats are opening up a fresh market, with young professionals now keen to rent in the neighbourhood.

Travel

The District and Circle Tube lines serve the area. The mainline station, a major London hub, has fast trains to Gatwick and the south coast. Nineteen bus routes run through the area, five of which offer a 24-hour service, and there are seven Night Buses.
