Investing in Canary Wharf Property
This fantastic district had it’s 30th birthday last year. The area has grown from strength to strength in that time. The skyline has changed dramatically and along with it the quality of life for people who work and live here. It has changed from an Industrial wasteland to a thriving hub of business and finance. The area now employs well over 100,000 people and this continues to grow.
Investment in Canary Wharf is ongoing and will be for the considerable future. Henry Wiltshire has been here to see a lot of the development and investment come into being. There have been exciting times over the last number of years and they show no signs of stopping as investment opportunities continue to breathe new life into the area.
Asian investment has increased
Since 2013 there have been ten commercial property purchases to the tune of at least £1bn, according to data from Reuters and Preqin. With those ten deals in mind it is important to note that 50% were acquired by Asian investment. Some recent Asian led purchases have been the London headquarters of investment banks UBS and Goldman Sachs.
Henry Wiltshire’s Asian offices in Hong Kong and Singapore are continuing to see a high level of interest in Canary Wharf and the London property market in generalfrom investors.
Investment in UK commercial property
Of the other 50% of the £1bn deals since 2013 the investors have been a mix of Middle Eastern, American and British firms. London is still a great place to invest your money and certain pockets are continuing to grow stronger every year.
