A better commute with Crossrail to work or your home in Hayes
If you work or live in Hayes you will soon be having a much more positive commute in and out of the area. Hayes & Harlington station is about to have many improvements for the benefit of it’s customers.
The Elizabeth Line is coming and Crossrail want to make everybody’s travelling experience a more positive one. The full route is expected to start operating in December 2019, with up to ten Elizabeth Line services an hour. These services will bring passengers from Hayes & Harlington to Reading or Heathrow in the west, or through the central London tunnels to Essex and southeast London.
Major improvements to Hayes & Harlington station
This five-platform station is having major works to accommodate Crossrail in 2019. Platforms are being extended for the new Crossrail service and these extended platforms are already in use. They take away some of the crowding that would normally arise at peak times.
There will be a new ticket hall which will be bigger and brighter. It will allow more passengers through and provide them with a more enjoyable experience on their travels. There will also be four new lifts together with a new footbridge. These will give customers step free access to each platform.
New station signage, lighting, help points and CCTV alongside new lighting will also be introduced. All of these upgrades are designed to keep customers safer and more comfortable as they travel.
Network Rail are committed to having the upgrades completed by the end of 2019. This is in line with the time frame for the Elizabeth line to commence from Reading, Maidenhead and Heathrow. Plans were approved by the Council. They can be viewed on the Hillingdon government website in detail but below is a summery of what will be happening.
